French car magazine Argus has published a French car market report since 1953 that has never shown negative figures. That is, from 1953 to 2007, the average car sold in France was always larger, more powerful, with more engine displacement and more expensive than the average car from the year before. 2008 ended that trend.

After a period of relative calm, France recorded again in January numerous alerts in the air pollution in Ile-de-France, in the East, on the West and in region Rhône-Alpes. This pollution takes a quite particular relief after the publication of the alarming study of the INVS which confirms the existence of short-term links, between this air pollution and the mortality rates.
